Homeschool 2012-13: School Room

Posted by AFarmhouseFull on November 4, 2012 at 3:45 PM

Over the years our "school room" has been moved around to many places.  We have used the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, and the extra bedroom in our basement.  Because we are a very relaxed family and I love the idea of incorporating learning into our everyday lives I tend to have inner turmoil over having a "school ROOM" per say.  I like the notion that school should happen where ever we feel inclined to learn at that moment.  Although the reality is that with eight people, at least three of which that have major focusing issues (Andrew, Faith and myself) and the many distractions of our household (read: 6 loud, busy children), we NEED to have a separate, purposeful room for our school work. Because of these exact reasons I have used my basement school room more and more over the last few years.  While at one time it was used mostly as a playroom, its main function now is that of a school room. I have given you glimpses of it each year we have used it in prior posts.  It is always evolving to better suite our needs.  This is what our room looks like this year!  This is a 360 degree photograph of our basement school room.

Hadn't visited your blog in a while - Ezra's growing so fast! Your family is so beautiful and it's all because your love for them is so strong and your commitment to your family and your values is so steadfast. You are really an inspiration! Glad to hear your year is going so well. You're looking radiant!

SO glad all that planning made it a little easier to get going this year. Wonderful room, I love these glimpses from those who have done what I would love to do. Whether we homeschool or not is in Gods hands, however, I like getting ideas for things/ways I can still teach the things we'd like our children to know. Have an awesome school year!

About Me:

I am a wife to my amazingly handsome, multi-talented, God-centered husband, Mike.  We have been married since I was just a baby after being high school sweet hearts FOREVER. The Lord has blessed us with (soon to be) 6 beautiful babies that challenge and bless us daily! I am a homeschooling mom and LOVE it!  We live on a handful of acres alongside a shallow creek and have slowly been turning a house (that we built in 2005) into a home. We have raised pigs, bees and chickens (and of course kids!) over the years.  I also love to grow and perserve my own food (there is just something about it that makes my heart smile), tackle home projects both big and small (I am a contractor's daughter), read, sew, quilt, crochet, knit and try to keep an open "Mary" home of hospitality (Luke 10:38-42).
