Okay, so I have had a couple of people asking if everything was okay at the farmhouse.  It seems I have been neglecting my little blog here!  Sorry!  I have been doing a lot of vlogs lately on my YouTube channel and haven't been posting links here.  But no worries, everything is fine!  BUSY AS HECK, but fine.

As for posts.  I have decided to break my blog and vlog into separate areas just to keep it easier on me.  If you would like to keep updated on the vlogs go to my YouTube channel and subscribe there.  www.YouTube.com/AFarmhouseFull.  I am planning on posting written blogs here from time to time as well, but vlogs are a little easier to do right now in this *BUSY* season of my life.  Blogs take a little more time to type up, upload photos to, re size photos and post.

Here are some recent vlogs I have done if you want to catch up:

  • Homeschool Planner Tour
  • Family Update
  • August's Garden
  • Curriculum Choices

You can find them HERE at www.YouTube.com/AFarmhouseFull

As for the family, we are doing well.  I am planning on starting school the week after Labor Day and I am getting quite excited to get everyone back into a regular routine.  Summer has been all over the place!  This fall we will be starting school, participating in fall youth soccer, and our homeschool co-op starts up.  I am sure this fall will prove to be a busy, but eventful one.

Ezra is turning 1 in a few short weeks (and Georgia will be 3 on the same day!).  I can't believe it has already been a year that we were blessed with our amazing surprise bundle of joy!  This year has been the fastest year of my life.  I am almost sad at the though of how fast it passed right on by.  It feels as if I blinked and it was just whisked away.  But that is life, isn't it?  Days are slow as molasses but years are pass by like jet planes!

I loved the video! Your room looks awesome. We have never home schooled any of our kids, they are all three in christian school at our church. We do have a 13 year old with a number of health issues that may require us to home school soon so I love to hear how you do it. You seem so wise and confident. You have great ideas. On another note, could I ask you about your clean eating. Could you tell me just a little about how you do this. I am not a fan of smoothies and all the blogs I read about clean eating mention lots of smoothie recipes. My son has heart problems so we try not to eat out too much. I try to cook healthy meals but I know I could do better. I would appreciate any advice you have. Thanks for your time!!

When I speak of clean eating I am referring just to foods that are a "basic" as possible. Things that aren't altered or processed. cutting out the heavily altered, prepared or processed foods allowed me to feel so much better and lose quite a few pounds. I have been HORRIBLE about eating well this summer, but it is all a give and take. I am not always going to eat clean. I have a sweet tooth like no one else! (Its BAD!) But as long as those "snacks" aren't happening all the time I can enjoy them from time to time without it "ruining" my progress. Also I think here in America the portions are OUT. OF. CONTROL! We eat WAY WAY too much of EVERYTHING; good food and "bad" food. We are suppose to be eating to live not living to eat. If you start to think of food as our fuel you will start to realize that you are eating when you don't even need to. Hope this helps!

Loving the vlogs! Thanks! Could you vlog about your chore packs at some point? I have grown up with maids (we live in Africa, totally different) but I am going to be doing my own housecleaning from now on. Sadly, no idea! Been googling house management tips etc like its no ones business! I don't want my girls to be in the same position (very little idea about cleaning systems) so hoping to get them into some chores, but not oppressively so:-)

Glad you had to check in to the blog! LOL! I have been enjoying the youtube channel too.
You are right, these years do pass so quickly! My baby will be 2 in November.

I was wondering, what co-op do you use for homeschooling? My aunt uses Classical Conversations and that's the only classically trained co-op I'd heard of until you mentioned one as well. I'm just curious.

Our co op is not a classical one. It is just a group of Christian mothers teaching classes on their specialty. For example I teach a crochet class for children 8-18. Other moms teach what they know. We have a herpetologist mom who is teaching a class on snakes, frogs, etc. our co op is more of "extra curricular" classes that are used for enrichment but do not take the place of any subjects we teach here. We probably have around 75-100 kids total that are evolved in the classes. Each child picks 3 classes each lasting about an hour. It runs from 9-11:30am one morning a week.

I'm so glad I found you on instagram! I've been watching some of your blogs tonight (it's midnight here now) and really love what you're doing with your family!
I'm sad you won't be blogging as much but will try to keep up with your vlogs and I'll also slowly make my way through your archives! :)

I am hoping you still check your blog because I can't comment on you tube. I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. I can't wait to make the pizza for my family. I am also so excited for your next baby. What a great surprise. Thank you for taking the time to share yourself with all of us. I get so much encouragement from you. I am looking forward to more cooking videos. You are such an inspiration!!

About Me:

Hey y'all! Welcome to our family blog. We are a large, loud and Jesus loving family from the rural Midwest. I am Nicci, also know around these parts as "mom" to my brood of a half dozen and as "babe" to my handsome other half.  We live on a handful of acres and have raised chicken, pigs, bees, tomatoes and most importantly our rowdy bunch of kidlets.  We cloth diaper, homeschool, DIY, and try to eat as "homemade" as possible.  My ratio of hobbies verses free time is COMPLETELY unbalanced.  I enjoy crocheting, knitting, sewing, designing, drawing, using power tools, and anything else that involves creating. I also love to decorate and organize when time and money allow - but come on now, it is hard to make it to the bathroom without little people following 2 steps behind me and my grocery bill is comparable to a mortgage payment!  It is a busy, challenging and sometimes chaotic life managing a larger than normal family but ultimately one of God's greatest blessings that I am immensely grateful for!  In no way have I "arrived" or  "figured it all out", but I am humbled to be able to share my experience with others!
